Meadham Kirchoff's spring/summer 2012 collection did that to me today. I wish my entire wardrobe was Meadham
Kirchoff. Too much for some, I know, but if you know me at all, you know that this is so connected to my heart.

My pal and I braved MOMA the other night to see the de Kooning show. It was super crowded, so the visit was brief. I think I'll go back. The exhibit was set up beautifully and was crazy to see the evolution of his work. Some of it I love and some of it I absolutely do not like. Here are 2 of my favorite works from the exhibit (and probably that I have seen of de Kooning in general!)

My well-informed friend Laura convinced me to set up a Tumblr!
Being that she is a youth she tipped me into the fact that Tumblrs are better for quick blogging about whatever pops
up (ie: all my Robyn videos, pictures of Kevin Arnold, and My So-Called Life quotes.) So, I am going to try to use

'Paul Pfeiffer' from The Wonder Years. My fave. Paul was a good best friend / neighbor and Kevin wasn't that nice to Paul. Everyone else liked Paul. Paul would say all sorts of amazing things, like, upon receiving a B on a paper, he said: "a B is like kissing your sister."

'Skippy' from Family Ties. I liked Skippy's dynamic with each member of the Keaton family and also with Nick. It was always a mystery whether or not any of the Keatons actually liked Skippy.

'Sam' from Clarissa Explains it All. I idolized Clarissa so the fact that her best friend was a dude that would climb a ladder into her room amazed me.

Okay, not even sure why I am including Kimmy Gibbler because she is awful in all ways and I dreaded when she would appear on an episode of Full House and ruin it all for me, but she's such a neighbor. And I like her blue cheetah print tube dresses.

'Brian Krakow' from My So Called Life. I hate Brian but he is such a solid character. Always riding around Angela's house on a tiny bicycle or reading a book in a tree. A real creeper.

'Peter' from The Cosby Show. Peter is genius. His silence and running away is comical magic. I love his grey sweatsuits.

'Six' from Blossom. Only for nostalgic reasons. When the show was on-air I was ten years old and thought that her fast talking antics were what I wanted from a best friend. (Best friends of girls in tv shows are always so effervescent.) She had a skirt made out of ties. In retrospect she was pretty 90's, because it was the 90's, but she did it well.

Okay, so I should have blogged about Sonja a long, long time ago because she is one of my fave artists-
the time is right as she just released her 3rd book (this time through Drawn & Quarterly) The Selves.

Getting to hold a Sonja Ahlers book is a gift! While it's not a diary it's almost the same feeling one might have upon finding someone's diary, but someone really cool & interesting. Hah. Perfectly curated clips, words and phrases- there's so many things to see. Each time I look through one of her books I find something new- or something will affect me in a totally different way and take on a whole other meaning then it had a year ago. I can't even get it into it too much- you should totally just have a copy for yourself. And keep it around for when company comes over because they always like it too. And then you laugh and they point out their favorite parts and you point out yours.

Before blogs, there were zines. Before zines, there were scrapbooks. Sometimes overlooked in the quest to produce high culture, these most direct and intimate means of communication and recording memory are the tools favored by Sonja Ahlers in the making of her art.
